When a node is first being created, the input format is set to the default, which is correct. However, if you set the format to a non-default setting, and then click preview, the format gets reset back to the default.
This issue does not come up once the node is submitted, only when a new node is being created.

Here is a first patch. I'm not sure whether this is the best way to detect a preview or something comparable. But it works.
