I am a new user and very excited about learning to use drupal.
i am downloading interesting modules and unzipping and copying the folders to sites/all/modules.
but when i go to admin/view /modules, i am unable to view the downloaded modules in the 'core-other' modules.
i ve tried many different modules and its not working with any.
i am on localhost.

previously this happened with downloaded themes also and it finally worked when i put the new themes in the drupal/themes folder and not in sites/all/themes.

please help

if the folder where the module is does'n have write/read permissions, drupal can't load the modules, try to add the right permissions

I have enabled sharing of the modules folder. this has not helped.

are you sure you uploaded them correctly? FTP and see if they exist in the folder then check through Drupal.

I have checked many a times and the 'poormanscron ' module which i am trying to install presently is there in the sites/all/modules folder.

I am not sure i understand what FTP ing is. but when i entered "D:\drupal\drupal-6.13\sites\all\modules\"
in the mozilla browser it promptly showed "file:///D:/drupal/drupal-6.13/sites/all/modules" and the 'poormanscron" folder

The modules are not in the 'Core - other' fieldset. Look for them in the 'Other' fieldset on admin/build/modules.
