I have created an advanced slideshow with images in the /files folder. I want to change these images to the files/images folder. I have changed all the image URLs in the News Item content types and flushed the Drupal cache and the views cache but the images dissappear! I have to then go back and restore to the files folder and find that "_0" has been added to the original images. I have now ended up with "_0" versions of the images in the files folder to reinstate the slideshow.

How can I move my images to another folder?

At Administer › Site configuration > file system you can configure where drupal stores files.

If you want more control you can use a contributed module like: upload_path
