gábor hojtsyDo you know of any pre-existing translation effort?
karlosgliberal commentedSorry for the delay. If we have a prior translation In http://drupal.org/project/eu there a version for drupal 5.x. In my company we are working with drupal for a long time in Basque and have the po files of these projects and in this case for 6.x branch
What is the next step?
Thanks for everything

gábor hojtsyWhat's your relation to http://drupal.org/project/eu ? Let's try to make sure we do not ignore existing contributions but instead integrate teams for the best of all of us.

karlosgliberal commentedHi Gábor
Macos the EU project manager is my friend and we worked together in investic. More than 2 years does not hold the project because it has focused on KDE translation.
And now thanks to the new tool localize.drupal.org a group of people we want to revive the project eu.
To my knowledge no one else on drupal.org is working on the translation into Euskera. Anyway Euskal Herria (Basque country) is a very small country:) and we are working on these issues we know we find
thanks for everything

What is next step? Do you attach the file po?
Thanks
Comment #6
gábor hojtsyI've sent Marcos (maintainer of http://drupal.org/project/eu) an email, asking him to reply.

marcos commentedHi all,
I began drupal translation some years ago but due to lack of time I haven't worked on it for two years more or less. As Karlos says, KDE basque translation embodies itself a pretty good amount of work.
In the past some other people asked also to lead the project but eventually no one took the responsability :((
I, therefore, have no inconvenience in giving the basque transaltion coordination leadership to whoever who shows a reasonable mid term commitment and some english to basque translation skills.
Nevertheless, I would like to recall that previous basque translations do exist (some of them made by professional translators thanks to goverment grants) for KDE, Gnome and OpenOffice (basque is a official llanguage in all of them) and I would like to ask you to follow the previously set guidelines.
I myself am a member of EuskalGNU (www.euskalgnu.org) a regional group which tries to spread free software in general and basque localized free software in particular. We aim to have clean and unified basque translations. So feel free to look at the done translations in order to avoid disparities and to get a nice unified user experience.

gábor hojtsy@karlosgliberal: are you ready to take on ownership of http://drupal.org/project/eu and a newly created project on localize.drupal.org then?
karlosgliberal commentedOK I'll take full responsability for the projects http://drupal.org/project/eu and the new localize.drupal.org. What we want (Investic) is that the basque translation of Drupal don't be stopped.
Thanks

gábor hojtsyCreated team at http://localize.drupal.org/languages/eu
Please expect that there might be bumps in the service. You are among the beta-tester of this live instance. Thanks for helping out and please report issues as you find them! Your team members can now join and help import existing translations and work on more translations.
Also note that I've set this up so that it uses a controlled model (that group admins moderate translations). If you'd rather work in an open model (that everyone can directly submit translations), that is up to you and you can edit your group node to reconfigure anytime.
Welcome on board!

karlosgliberal commentedThanks for your work Gábor
We will work to create the group of translations and implement the translation into Basque in this great tool.
