Chinese Traditional is already open at #565862: Add Chinese(Traditional) language to l.d.o. Is this issue a duplicate, or are we talking about Simplified Chinese here?
#4
We are talking about Simplified Chinese (I won't be able to help with Traditional Chinese).

#6
Ok, there used to be a translation server at http://drupalchina.org/hanhua/ which is defunct now. Do you know of a data dump from there or other efforts to translate Drupal which should be integrated?
#7
From the DrupalChina.org post http://drupalchina.org/node/2509, the translation was moved to http://drupal.org/project/zh-hans
#8
Yes, Simplified Chinese language is needed, so we can improve those untranslated words and import modules language that have been translated.

@skyredwang: your original comment on #7 said "what about this http://drupal.org/project/zh-hans", which did not prompt me to come back and look at this issue, since it had nothing to do with the outstanding question. Since your original comment was mailed to me over a month ago, you seem to have edited the comment. People did not get notification of edits, so if you'd like to get attention to useful information posted, please do not edit your comments. Your updated #7 has quite a different tone and amount of information, directly answering my question in #6.
I've sent a contact message to kzeng, maintainer or http://drupal.org/project/zh-hans asking him to look at this issue.

The data dump from http://drupalchina.org/hanhua/ can be downloaded form http://drupalchina.org/node/2509 and http://drupalchina.org/forum/8 .

Hi,
I would be interested in helping on this; I am Chinese, living in Shanghai and working for a Drupal shop (http://wiredcraft.com). There is definitely a lot of ongoing discussions within the Chinese community about translation & documentation; I would love to get involves in the process of improving the overall communication surrounding the Drupal project in China.
Let me know if you had some feedback from the maintainer of the zh-hans project; I am taking the initiative to contact him directly as well.
Thanks.

I've got feedback from Kai (maintainer of existing zh-hans) back in October saying he is on a short trip and will reply. Looks like he forgot. Pinged him again.

Nothing happened here? I located to localize.drupal.org but didn't find Chinese Simplified. Thanks to Kai for the translations but is there any one can create a zh_cn branch on this site/project? How to do that?

we need Simplified Chinese language in l.d.o

Hi All, hi Gabor,
Makara is actually working with me in Shanghai; we'd be thrilled to be able to contribute actively to the Chinese translation of Drupal. We're a Drupal shop and spend 5 days a week working on that platform (and usually the week end toying with one module or another). I am fairly confident we could ensure a minimum of activity on that project. Would that be possible to get a hold on it? We hadn't had feedback from Kai so far...
#19
ohh, it's be too long a time.
#20
Despite asking him, Kai did not seem to post his email here, so I'm reposting it here:
Will create the group soon.

There are several translations i did before.

Created team at http://localize.drupal.org/languages/zh-hans
Please expect that there might be bumps in the service. You are among the beta-tester of this live instance. Thanks for helping out and please report issues as you find them! Your team members can now join and help import existing translations and work on more translations.
Also note that I've set this up so that it uses a controlled model (that group admins moderate translations). If you'd rather work in an open model (that everyone can directly submit translations), that is up to you and you can edit your group node to reconfigure anytime.
I've set kzeng as the initial maintainer of the team, if there are issues with him not approving other maintainers, I can help elevate people who've been actively proposing the team here to maintainers as well.
Welcome on board!

Also, btw, I've used this plural form I've picked up from the existing zh-hans translation files: nplurals=2; plural=(n!=1); even though my other sources told me this is not the one to use. Let me know if this is not right before you start importing stuff, so we can fix it if you do not in fact need two variants.
#24
Thank you Gabor.
In Chinese the plural form is complex. Some have plural form, some don't. Just keep it same as English should work.
