What did the webmaster diagnostic tool show as the reason for the error? What do you see when you visit www.example.com/sitemap.xml on your site? What happens if you cause Google to try to read the sitemap.xml again?

i can't find anywhere that google explains what the problem is. i don't think they do. it is just a big red X that indicates sitemap error. I have tried refreshing the sitemap by removing it from the list and resubmitting it. the error comes back. everything looks OK on sitemap.xml as far as I can tell.

What is your full list of enabled contrib modules?

I know Google gives the reason for the failure. I don't have time to look for it at the moment.

If you have a big red X for your sitemap in Google Webmaster Tools, you should be able to click on the 'sitemap.xml' and it shows a detailed page with the error. Also, do you mind if we know the actual location of the website/sitemap you are working with? We can possibly help figure out what's going wrong ourselves as well. If you don't want to post the link here, you can use my contact form to send it to me.

I got this error from Google Webmaster Tools:

Network unreachable: Network unreachable
We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

I am able to go the the sitemap myself and view it and it appears to be OK.

Could you put the link to your sitemap here exactly as you have it entered in Google's Webmaster Tools?

Your site appears to be offline, which is probably why Google is reporting that error.

Looks like it should be working now. I'm going to mark this as fixed. Please re-open if that's not the case.
