Issue Summary
i'd love to see a task manager module where one could easily submit "to do" items that could be classified in taxonomies and viewed as a big list of all the task manager nodes in a single page. a column to easily "check it off" when it is done and a priority rating similar to the project module would be nice too.
in some ways, if the project module were not so oriented towards software development, it would be fine, but as it stands now, it is not really useful for anything else.
just an idea...

I actually plan to write a personal to-do list module when I get time to work on my own projects.
At the moment, I'm rather busy implementing 4 sites with Drupal, trying to use the eventual 4.4 target as the code base, though.

I think this would be a good idea, and could probably look a bite like the already written event.module. Ideally something like this would store data in a format that can be read by all, ICS. Mozilla Calendar users can simply modify their to-do list as well as planned events and than have it sync not only with their PalmPilot, but also to their own dot com.

#2 was posted by me as well, sorry, wasn't logged in, Drupal ate my cookie I think. :D
Look at any eBay item and they have an "add to calendar link". I didn't even think of that, or even know it was possible, guess I've been under a rock. I think it would be neat to browse your favorite Drupal site, see an event of task you want to do, and just be a click away from having it tossed locally into your calendar application.

i am wondering what people think about basing the taskmanager module off of the project module (or perhaps just adding more functionality and options to the project module).
i feel like the things that would need to happen in revising the project module would be:
1) making some of the more software-development-oriented things optional,
2) adding due dates,
3) making the input process not three screens long,
4) linking it up with the event module, and
5) perhaps a couple other things
we would be well on our way to a really nice task management system.
what do people think about that?

Sounds like it would be just what I'm looking for. :)

Much needed and very welcomed. I think IF the project module could be reworked to make things less software centric, it would be 100% more useful. Its a great module, just needs to be more flexible.

Moving to appropriate place. :)

Subscribing... yes I know it's a four year old feature requests... yes I know I need a different hobby... but we need a personal information manager / task manager in Drupal because Drupal will naturally make a collective task manager...

The Task Management system should be email based (optionally restricted to text, or html forms).
This way Vendors, secretaries, people with internet enabled mobile phones... can be sent an email and they can update the Drupal Project Managment module with their % complete, critical needs not yet met, request for additional tasks to be assigned, request for materials...
The returned emails should automatically update the project manager's view so that the project manager does not need to chase down the participants every day.
