Whenever I go to a group page, for example http://groups.drupal.org/taxonomy/term/5029, I get a red message at the top of the page saying:

"The name cdale is already registered. Please contact the site administrator."

I've attached a screen shot for clarification. Some blocks also appear to be missing.

Is this something I have done? Can it be fixed? The rest of my account on Drupal.org appears to be fine. I only have issues on groups.drupal.org.

This was a synch problem.

The accounts should now be synched. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I'm still seeing this.

The e-mail address {redacted}@example.com is already registered. Please contact the site administrator.

This doesn't seem like a sync problem, it seems like drupal_set_message and user/0.

The name SteveOn is already registered. Please contact the site administrator.

There seems to be a problem with my drupal account on groups so I reopen the issue.

Sorry if this is the wrong place..

Getting this too.

Also getting this ... and so it has been for the last half year, I think.

those reopening this issue should read and follow direction at: http://groups.drupal.org/node/26125

I'm getting this error too. Checked out node 26125 but since I don't have a separate groups account I'm not sure what to do -- a sync request does not apply (and appears not to resolve anything for some commenters). Do i have no other choice than create a new account to participate in groups?

In that case you should open your own issue as it's different and you can't follow 261256. Though, it should still go in the queue set up for the g.d.o issues per 26125 as the original issue is fixed.

@VeryMisunderstood I don't think this should be 'fixed', it's clearly not 'fixed', and there's going to be other people that have questions.

Anyway the sync request asks for the g.d.o profile. I can't get to a page where I can access my profile. All I see is 'login' link on g.d.o and clicking it takes me back to d.o, not g.d.o.

I have no idea what my profile is, for my g.d.o profile I entered the url for the d.o profile. Hopefully the webmasters can figure it out.

Agreed, the overall sync/login issue isn't fixed, obviously. That's not why I was remarking fixed. However the original issue that the creator started this issue over is fixed per greggles (g.d.o admin) comment in #4.

Rather than expecting greggles (or anyone else) to filter through a single issue and trying to sort out the "me too's", I was trying to guide those having continued issues to open their own thread and to follow the protocol set up by greggles in node/26125. Not necessairly with reference to the account sync form created but with the idea that it is evident that there are some nuances to each persons issue based on my reading of the 1/2 dozen of so issues already created and filtering out those nuances is going to be made difficult in these threads and the water continues to get clouded. Some never had synced accounts in first place, some only had g.d.o accounts and no d.o account, so on so forth.

I'll leave this open however, it's not even in the proper queue per changes to node/26125. Thus the eyes required to see it that can fix it may not see it where they expect it to be which will likely make fixing the issue for anyone chiming in on what was a closed issue take that much longer. Note that not all of us d.o site maintainers/webamsters have the kind of access required to look into this on the g.d.o servers, where as the infrastructure team may.

Here is how I somehow fixed it:

1)I changed my username on drupal.org
2)I visited groups and I still got the already registered error with my old username
3)I cleared all caches/cookies in my browser. Actually I took a fresh opera install for that.
4)Works.

So I got "The name guaka is already registered. Please contact the site administrator.".

Then I changed my username, cleared all *.drupal.org cookies.

And... I got:

* The e-mail address my-email-address@example.com is already registered. Please contact the site administrator.
* The name guaka is already registered. Please contact the site administrator.

Yeah right, I created an issue #612006: Please sync my d.o account with g.d.o account , 10 days later, still nothing..

Also filled out the "synch account" form and that did a whole lot of nothing.

Someone needs to get on top of this, It's beyond frustrating at this point.

heydg’s picture

I followed SteveOn2's procedure and now have 1 login for all sites. I could try changing my username back to the original name, but I am happy that my account history is intact and perhaps that is enough.

To Guaka and others I would just say keep trying -- clearing cookies can take more than one try. In my case I use Firefox 3.5.4 and did the following in place of SteveOn2's #3 step: Tools -> Clear Recent History... -> checked following: Cookies, Cache, Active Logins, Site Prefs -> Clear Now.

Then I had to muck around for a couple of minutes refreshing drupal.org and groups.drupal.org pages, logging out + in, before the error disappeared and my new username "stuck."

It takes a lot of time to do each of these because people have filled in bad data and duplicate requests. Please, stop that.

If you'd like to help make this go faster, please review the code in http://drupal.org/node/590150

ManyNancy’s picture

@greggles, I filled out bad data because I have no idea what the correct data is. It's probable I'm not the only one with this problem.
