URL alias for forum

Hi
I am using the drupal core forum module. I can't get rid of the 'forum; in the sitename/forum url. Is there no way to change this to something else? I am using the URL alias module and dont see an option for changing this, only what comes after it.

Did you figure out how to accomplish this? I want to be able to change "forum" in the URL to "discussion" but haven't looked into it much yet.
no...i ended up giving up on
