Can I trigger an action in workflow to automatically create a forum using discussthis?

I am trying to figure out if this can be automatically invoked using workflow.
Right now we have comments, and forums. I would just rather centralize everything under forums.

At this time, Discuss This! requires you to select one forum where discussion posts will be created. You can select a different forum for each different node type (see in /admin/settings/discussthis).
Are you thinking that each time a Discuss This! is used a new forum should be created?

I have a discuss this forum for an event.
all event forum topics are placed in the same forum.
I would like it so that each time an event of a certain type is created, the forum is also automatically created.

Chris,
I see! You want to use the Rules module. That can detect new nodes appearing and run corresponding actions. This a new event could auto-generate a forum.
Although Discuss This! could do it too, I'm not sure that's such a widespread need, Actually, I'm looking into avoiding the forum post from being created if you just click on the link.
Do you think Rules would be enough for you?

I think rules is just fine.
no need to re-create the wheel.
Could you add this as an action?

When you say "event", do you mean a node (of type event)?
If so, then you just use the "New node" trigger in the Rules menu. As far as I know, you get the signal already.

wait. where is the "create forum through discussthis" action or is it "create forum" action?
is there a node relation setup that I can reference somehow?

The rules can be used to create a node as well. Maybe we'd need something specific so it works with Discuss This! if the content of the node cannot be set to the teaser of the event being created. But I think you have everything in the stock version of Rules.
Did you try to get it to work? 8-)
