They upload, but don't seem to take. They were working in the previous dev version. Any ideas?

Second that. In node edit form, the custom thumbnail is uploaded without any errors. And it also appears on the file system.

But, after pressing "save" and returning to the node edit form, the remote (Youtube) thumbnail is displayed, without any trace of the custom thumbnail.

Just upgraded to 6.x-1.11 using Vimeo and same thing happens. After I press upload in the node edit form, the uploaded image displays, but once I press save and go back in there again it disappears.

Same issue here - neither custom video thumbnails nor alt text are saved.

This worked for me - as suggested in 601466.

Browse to your thumbnail image and SAVE the node WITHOUT hitting the upload button. The new thumbnail will save with the node and will display. Works for me with "Thumbnail -> Full Size Video inline replacement" display type selected.
