Is it possible to recreate the taxonomy list display using views 2??

Has anyone successfully recreated the taxonomy list display using views 2? Any recipe hints would be great! The taxonomy list module is great, it just lacks a little control over content type/language/date ranges etc. If the display could be recreated using views 2 it would provide huge flexibility.
