A useful enhancement to proximity search would be to provide a quick way for an authenticated user to say "search for content and/or users with proximity to 'my location'", where 'my location' is the location the user has specified under "my account" > edit > locations. If the user has specified multiple locations under "my account", in its simplest form the feature would consider the first location specified as primary and use that. A further enhancement would be to let the user select which of his "my account" locations to base the search on.
The UI could be a "My Location" checkbox in the proximity fieldset, or a series of radiobuttons in the case of multiple locations, with lat/lon and/or a map for each.

pieterdcYou could use Views to make a "search for content and/or users with proximity to 'my location'" listing.

jcolby1028 commentedI'm after something every similar but would like to have the user set the proximity in which nodes/user are displayed. This could be done for every location the user adds to his/her account.
Example-
Location 1 - Home
Search Proximity - 10 miles
Location 2 - Work
Search Proximity - 5 miles
Distance between location 1 and 2 50 miles. (crappy commute)
The user will only see nodes/users that are within 10 miles of his/her home and 5 miles of his/her work.
Thank you.

freelockAnybody working on this? Have a couple sites with exactly this need. Thinking of a quick implementation that stores latest location in the user profile, or a cookie for anonymous users. Then exposes a views argument and/or filter for filtering by proximity.
We're starting with US States as the scope, but do plan to get finer tuned.
