node access counter making wrong settings

If I hit the edit tab for a page node, the node_counter totalcount for that node gets reset to 18446744073709551612 - that's strictly hitting the edit tab, not submitting changes. If I click the edit tab for a blog or image node, the daycount is reset to 0 and the total count is decremented. The bigint value is just crazy for my site stats. I've had to just reset some nodes' totalcount to 0 not knowing what the original value was.
