i don't have mcrypt installed but i would still like to use aes. maybe this encryption libraries AES implementation could be used?:

I'll have a look at it. I would love to be able to drop the requirement of mcrypt if that's possible. Thanks for the link.

Fixed! Thanks for the heads up :) I don't think there were any PHP-written implementations of AES around when I wrote the first version of this module.
