The current interface should let new users know what to do first. Otherwise, the temptation is to start a new review, which will throw up a warning message without Settings Profiles in place.
Perhaps consider the 'New review' and 'Reviews' options should be disabled until Settings Profiles have been set up.

xanoWe definitely need a guide on how to set up and work with ATR, especially because I'm pretty much the only one who knows. I don't think it's a good idea to hide those menu items. If we hide them it may seem that ATR has no more to offer than settings profiles. This is also based on the 'pattern' introduced in Drupal 7 where we show table headers whether there's table content or not.
If you encounter any specific difficulties, could you post about them so those can be taken into account when writing the introduction to ATR?

lisarex commentedDefinitely, hiding those options wouldn't be a good solution. Since they aren't buttons, they can't be grayed out (disabled). My specific trouble was I started a new review without touching the settings, simply because 'New review' was the first option and there was nothing to indicate I needed to create a Settings Profile first.

xanoIs it really that bad? The message tells users to create a profile first in afaik the best possible way. I don't see any other way to improve the interface itself, only to write docs.
Basically what I'm trying to do is create a flow in the process. Even if a user starts at the wrong point he gets pushed back in the flow–or at least that's what I'm trying to achieve. Docs may be needed, but they're no solution.

xanoText Review succeeded ATR as a centralised module for reviewing and analysing texts from various sources. The usability needs some improvement, because after enabling all required modules it's not yet clear what a user should do.
xanoAfter enabling modules from this package, the user sees a message telling him where he should go to configure the module. Profiles are no more, so I *think* this is fixed.
