A simple revenue share site
I just implemented a simple Drupal site at http://forum.blapper.com/.
The adsense revenue share module was used to let users who post share in the revenue.
The general idea is that it can work like a cross between a website directory and article depot.
Users will get a whole page of content to promote their sites/articles. They'll also get backlink(s) to go with their articles. And if the articles are popular they'll get adsense revenue.
At present I'm using the "Blue Marine" theme with the phptemplate.engine engine. I'm not sure whether to concentrate on website promotion or making it look more professional. I'm expecting users to come mainly for the backlinks and if that's the case then appearance will not be important. But if people start visiting regularly and reading the articles, then the cosmetic side could become an issue.
Anyway, there's no point worrying about it while there's no content!

is the adsense revenue share module just the plain adsense module?

Drupal ecommerce, at www.drupalecommerce.com is a new site written using language that Drupal beginners and intermediate users can understand. It has about 300 unfinished pages. Quick links to "Modules," and "Example Sites."

Hi Drupalec,
Yes, I just used the standard module that you can find here:

It was very easy to install and seems nice so far.

Be careful with AdSense
Hi fcmisc,
I've read another article about Google AdSense on the net just a few minutes I recognized your posting. It might be interesting for you and your backlink-promotion-share-idea which sounds quite good to me - but maybe the sponsor not.

I haven't used AdSense at all, so please don't blame me if this misinformation.
@future commenters: Please don't make this thread to a AdSense discussion... better use the existing SEO forums on the net.

Hi Sun, Thank you for
Hi Sun,
Thank you for showing an interest in my idea. Are you saying that you think the revenue share idea is risky for me? The terms and conditions of my website prohibit stuff like click fraud, but I'm not naieve enough to believe that fraudsters will take that into account. I've also used the Adsense module's functionality to hide adsense adverts from logged in users. This should stop regulars from accidently clicking the ads.
Anyway, it's still early days (day 2 to be precise!). The revenue share is just another incentive to get posts and I've made no claim that users will make much if anything from the idea. If the site take off and problems occur I guess I can remove the revenue share, as the benefits of the backlinks should outweigh any revenues gained from Adsense.
Cheers,
fcmisc.
No doubts, just hints.
I have no doubts on your revenue share idea. But as stated in the above mentioned article there may be some risks in choosing Google AdSense as a revenue payer, since they seem to place their ads on your site but do not pay you out in the end.
Again, I have no experience with AdSense. But this wasn't the first article with a negative opinion about that service. There are more advertisement/affiliate services you might give a try.
So I wish you good luck with your backlink service. However, it also might be interesting for you that most pages which serve as a plain link directory/link page are banned from the search engine indices. Surely this depends on the popularity of the (back-)link directory, but the more popular your link site gets the more likely every listed site will receive a worse pagerank. It'll be probably best to think about additional content you might provide on that link site to prevent your site from getting banned from the indices.
How about posting the URL to your new site here?
Don't hesitate to write about your experiences with your new site and revenue share idea here! This might be interesting for other communities, too.

Hi Sun, I've been with
Hi Sun,
I've been with Adsense for over a year now and have had no problems with them. Having said that, forums such as this are full of posts from users who have had their account banned so I'm going to be pretty careful. If it all goes pear shaped I'll give Yahoo or Chitika a try. I already have an Adbrite account but have yet to earn enough to warrant a payment.
Regarding the backlinks, the search engines are more likely to ban pages with little content where there are LOTS of (i.e. over 50) links to external sites. As long as users are sensible, posting good content along with their links, they should be fine. Each post will be on a separate page. And the short teasers on the menu pages shouldn't accumulate too many links either.
I've had problems in the past where people have spammed my sites with lists of links. If this happens I'll need to moderate the content, but drupal has various blocking facilities so maybe I'll need to put them into action.
Anyway, thanks for all the feedback, it's really appreciated.

Minimum word count

Is there drupal functionality for a "maximum link count"?
There's a minimum word count function and I've set it to 200 words.

max link count module
I have not seen a module for that yet. You could write one - I'm sure there will be more people in the need for such a content limiter. It may also used to prevent spam postings by bots.
