I've rolled a few comments this year... fewer than a lot of folks, but more than other folks.

I find I do similar activities on about 90 percent of comments.

Personally, if the comment is within 60 to 90 days I try to:
1. contact the person who made the comment
2. refer to the page with the comment
3, copy the comment they made on the page
4. remind them to use the forum for support requests, thank you, etc
5. go back and delete the comment

I'd like a magic button I could push that would do all that which also lets me customize a few standard responses .
For example,
- support request
- thank you, do it again, you can make the changes to the page yourself
- go read the newbie page link / cookbook link / developer link - etc

And before add1sun reminds me that comments aren't allowed in the future, we could use this same feature in the forums.

We will still have plenty of need to provide guidance whether it is in the comments or in the forums.

My nooobe comment about rolling comments.
I had this thought as well when sending some emails. There are times when the form-mail is right on, maybe the language could be softened up just a little bit in places.
For some of the responses/notices that I sent, they got modified to be more helpful. Such as providing a link to a possible solution or changing the subject. Although it was not that difficult, still the thought was maybe a few different types of form-mails to pick from depending on the type of comment and the direction of the comment.

This is not an issue when the comment can be published into the page, that is a total compliment to the poster. And many times it really makes the page nice. I just love it when that happens! I have noticed some comments are made by long associated Drupal users that I idolize for their knowledge and hesitate to even touch them. Why some of those folks did not update the page, not sure. Maybe posting a comment is just quick and easy. I do know people are busy and spread out thin across the Drupal spectrum.

I did not know that comments were not allowed in the future. That could be a good thing, send all people to the forum.

I think that the how-to information here is pretty much reflected in http://drupal.org/node/135589 (Incorporating Comments how-to page).

If you want to request an automated way to do this, then it's probably best to file an issue in the Drupal.org infrastructure project rather than here.
