Hello- I'm new to drupal and php. I have it installed, but the calendar module doesn't go into any detail as to how to install it.

http://drupal.org/project/event

im using dreamhost- do i add a new database, or add to the current database?

or maybe it doesn't work with drupal 4.7?

im sorry for being a noob and i hope you can help me :-)

any ideas guys? it seems so simple that it looks like no one else has asked this question.

I installed it on 4.7 RC2. Everything uploaded fine, but I got nothing but fatal errors. I gave up.

INSTALL.txt has the basic steps for installing the event module and what you need to do to use it.

It does not mention that the event module comes with the basicevent module which you can enable and then configure (under administer -> settiings -> content types to use for basic event needs.

The install.txt file is geared toward an older version of Drupal. You can't use it as a complete documentation of how to do this.

yeah i thought the install seemed incomplete- how can i find update documentation?

or maybe because im a newbie i should stick with 4.6.6? or is the event module for an even oler version of drupal?

thank you :-)

I just installed the cvs version of event module and successfully got it to work, calendar and all. Wondering if something is wrong with your setup. If you can give me access to your site, I can try to help although I am not a drupal expert or anything. No payment needed.

Since Jeff is new to Drupal (like me), here is the link to the CVS folders:
http://cvs.drupal.org/viewcvs/drupal/

If you click through the folders (first contributions, next modules, then find the event folder) you will find the latest elements for that download. As you can see the event.module is relatively new. I'll let you know if it works for me.

First make sure that you are downloading the appropriate module for the core version of Drupal that you installed. You have to check the normal module downloaded, against the CVS download, and choose the one right for your core Drupal.

BTW Ramdak, I think you may have just answered 99.9% of my problems with Drupal thus far. If you had not mentioned the CVS area, I would not have known to look there and do a version check of each modules I am adding. Most of the modules I had downloaded in the 'normal' module area were not the right ones for the Drupal core I am running. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Great to know that I could help out another drupal user:-)

Hi,

On 4.7 I installed the flexinode and event CVS versions.

I added a node type of event. But I don't see the Show in event calendar section.

Any ideas?

4. You must then enable one or more node types to be used with the
event system. You can do this by going to admin/node/configure/types
and selecting a node type from the list. If the event calendar is
installed properly you should see a section called 'Show in event calendar:'
with three options below it:

I copied an URL from another site and now I see the calendar

event/2006/03/01/month/all/all

What is the proper way to link?

did new install from cvs and everthing works

That's nice to hear:-)

When you are trying out CVS versions of modules, chances are that there will be bugs that will be rectified by later commits. May be that's what happened here. I was probably lucky to download a bug-free version of the module for my install.

On your link question, I just went to blocks and activated 'Calendar to browse events' and 'List of upcoming events' to my right side menu. You can configure it to go on any page, but I chose my front page.
