Stack Overflow error

Hi,

I have 5.x-1.3 working fine in www.economicpopulist.org, which is drupal 5.7. I went to try 5.x-1.x-dev and when I turned on any combo of the javascript aggregation I got a stack overflow error in ie8.

I went hunting around for the bug and just plain couldn't locate it.

I ended up reverting back to 5.x-1.3 but I want to put gzip on the site and wish I could get 5.x-1.x-dev to work.

I'm thinking this might be some conflict with another module maybe or ? but if someone else has experienced this error please post so I can try to track it down.

Debugging tools (clearly a javascript overflow apparently) suggestions welcome too.
