Node Limit Question

I'm fairly new to Drupal and I'm trying to create a node limit that applies to each user of a given role ... in other words, I'd like to allow each user with the role "authenticated user" to create only one node of type foo. It doesn't appear that the node limit module allows for this ... if I'm understanding it correctly, the node limit module allows me to specify a node limit for an individual user and a node limit that applies collectively to all users of a given role but not individually to each of those users. Does anyone know if this can be done, and if so, how? Thanks for any help.

This is very easy to do with the Node Limit Number module.
The Node Limit Number project has been resurrected and many new features have been added. This module now integrates with Rules and the limits are very easy to create. Head over to the Node Limit Number project and grab the latest development copy. The 2.0 release will be out soon for Drupal 6.
