I saw your post on the osom site. Thanks. (This was basically setting the max zoom on the gmap settings page.)

Oh, good. Glad you found that. They made a mistake in the installation profile. I was staring at it for a while before I saw (40,0) in the minified javascript! I remembered seeing those numbers in the configuration form and systematically check to make sure that nothing was null as the error claimed. Who would have thought it was the max zoom?

GMAP still does not show unless the Marker Maximum Zone is changed from zero on the fresh install. I changed it back to 0 and it works fine still. Not sure what that is about.

EDIT: When I reset defaults it doesn't work again.

Although this was not the case before, now if you set the Google Map API key it works as it should.
