Would it be possible to have a backup that would backup the database then the files as one backup file. Or get the backups to kick off a different backup?

No not really. I've kept the two separate by design to help keep the user experience simple and to avoid timeout issues. I do not have any plans to change this since the couple if clicks it takes to backup both doesn't seem worth the risk, but I'll keep the request in mind in case I'm able to think of a way to overcome the issues involved.
