Now that a lot of folks are using twitter, in a large deployment we pull a lot of random tweets. It would be nice if there were an option in the settings menus to set a filter term. So for example. if I used the term "@tapatio-message" tapatio would only input messages that users input that began with "@tapatio-message." This way they could do all their normal tweeting and the system wouldn't pick up a bunch of garbage.

Although, asking everyone to use a particular hash tag could facilitate using the data even outside of tapatio, since all relevant tweets could be pulled by even non-sophisticated users with a simple search. DMs do kind of "close up" the information.

evoltech commentedThe hash tag is a good point. I would like to point out that one of the initial requirements for tapatio was to deal with the fact that users could not figure out how to use twitter. This may sound absurd to tech savy users, but it is true, some people, even people who are other wise good at supplying intel, are not very good at remembering to prefix with "d" or @group_name.
One issue with the hash tag usage outside of tapatio is when a tag gains popularity and start collecting spam, like we saw today with #g20.
As of right now tapatio has the ability to disable users selectively, or enable users selectively. This is done via the votingapi integration. The ui for this feature could definitely use some work though. I can see benefit in the ability to follow users who are providing good intel but may not be following our groups as well. Maybe these ideals should be split up into separate feature requests and we should prioritize them though.

avpadernoI am closing this issue, since it's for a Drupal version no longer supported.
