A lot of people don't like messing with html, and I think it would be cool if a picture could be uploaded to the node. I noticed that on lullabot, a picture is provided for all bios, which is probably implemented through file upload and html.

Another option would be to fetch the user's profile picture, but I'd prefer that it wasn't, because I only want users with bios to be able to have a picture.

For 4.7, you can handle this via image assist and/or image attach. In 5.0, you can use any node type, including ones that attach images in any way you choose :)
