I've started to use drupal with a "band" I'm in (not really a band, just a musical group), and I've noticed a lack of functionality for audio albums and such that common bands might use. If time permits, I'm going to develop an all around music site module, while trying not to overlap with other modules. I won't be able to start right away, but I'm just trying to get some ideas down right now. I've created a quick diagram.

| another module) |
------------------------
I'm aiming to create something similar to another program I've created, LySite. I may be overlapping a few modules; I tried to mention the ones I knew of, but feel free to mention ones that might cover anything. There is a discography module, but that didn't seem to do near enough.
The track listing will be a lot like a menu, with a title, and an optional link to lyrics and an audio file (mp3, etc).
It would be really cool to display both the lyrics and the mp3 download on the same page, but I'm not quite sure if this is possible or not.
Let me know if you'd be interested in testing or helping out in coding, or would like to use this module upon completion.

Summer of Code
Oh, and I'd be willing to give this idea over for a summer of code project, if it would be useful there.

Use drupal core
It should be possible to achieve the same results without a new, specific music module. Have a look at ratings module for reviews, tracks should work with normal nodes, Albums may be realized with flexinodes (or upcoming CCK) combined with the views module.

That's true, but it's not
That's true, but it's not quite as integrated as it could be with it's own module. I may take a look at what you mentioned though. I'm currently using 4.7, so I'm limited to the modules that have been moved to 4.7.
UPDATE: Looks like CCK is going to do the trick. Unless there is a great interest in this (which doesn't seem to be the case), I'm not going to use this idea. Thanks sun.

I mentioned audio.module in
I mentioned audio.module in the original post.
CCK is going to make a lot of the existing modules obselete.

just wondering..
Hi Brad,
Just wondering if you pursued this or are using (the excellent) CCK.MODULE instead in conjunction with taxonomy.module to organise the discography?
or did you come up with something better?
I just had a quick look at the existing discography.module and it doesn't seem to do anything that the cck.module doesn't already allow you to do.
