I am getting this:

1. Copy the ./sites/default/default.settings.php file to ./sites/default/settings.php.

But I have already done that, I changed the permission to write, and changed them back again. I successful set up the database, etc. But drupal install keeps looping back.

The directory sites/default/files does not exist.

But it does exist, I just checked. I have tried changing the permissions ect. It just keeps looping back to the same thing.

I fixed it. The problem was with my lighttpd server. It was not restarting correctly. I had to kill the process, and then restart.

I wish I could fix mine. Recycling Apache makes no difference. I'm going to have to do a complete reinstall of Drupal.
