I know everyone hates this type of question, but is there a "ballpark" timeframe for the 6.x version to be stable?

Description

The only reason why I ask this is because the ONLY module that is keeping me from moving to Drupal 6.x is this one. I want to make my 6 month outlook, and I want to know if I could start redeigning with 6.x now, or would it be best to wait a few months?

If I start designing now (I am starting over with 6.x and not "upgrading" my site from 5.x), will the updates through the Alpha and Beta's be easy, or do you just suggest I wait until this is stable before I start building the new site? Just looking for your thoughts, thanks!

The Drupal 6.x version is pretty stable, I've probably been overcautious in keeping it in alpha, mainly because I wanted to inject more features before stepping into beta. I had intended to have it progressed further by now but I've been kept busy elsewhere. The road map is still to get some substantial progression over the next couple of months.

What is presently going on behind the scenes is a conversion to common code base of 5.x, 6.x, ad 7.x versions (yes, it is possible) which means feature preservation and commonality through all versions. A new feature or bug fix instantly translates to the other versions. For you that means seamless migration through 5.x to 6.x and eventually 7.x should you choose. Happy to answer further questions.

Miles

Thanks for the update. I now see on the main page of this module that you are currently working on the common code - that will be a nice feature.

Another question I have is porting over the classified ads and my users. I also use CCK with my classified ads. Will it be easy to port over my customer list, classified ads, and the corresponding CCK fields? Are the database structures the same in 5.x and 6.x, or will this idea not work? I understand you are probably not a CCK or Drupal expert when it comes to this stuff, but I'm just looking for suggestions. I'm going to start looking through the forums also. Thanks!
