trying to have a block in left block-column, in right block-colum, in header, content and footer ...

only placement that brings upp the block WITH search-functionality is when block is placed in the header of the site. otherwise block stays completely empty ...

what could be wrong?

Please make sure you have disable default keywords, and input text hiding and this should solve your problem.
