How to move the Profile fileds from 5.x into Content-profile taxonomies in 6.x ?
Hi,
Is there a module that could help me migrate the data from profile fields into taxonomy fields like this?
I've googled around this question for a long while, but couldn't get any decent information. And I'm sure many people would love to see a decent solution to this issue (hopefully through an easy-to-use module). So if you have any ideas or suggestions please reply!
The issue:
I have a small 2-year-old social-networking community site (set up with 5.2 and now upgraded to 5.20) with over 500 registered user profles. The profiles are handled through a combination of core Profile module, Bio (for the long biography field) and Usernode (to construct views listings). But most importantly, each user has filled out fields like Country, Town, Activities, Interests which link the users together. That linking of users is probably the most important data that my community site has, and I would loose the site if I loose that data and functionality.
From what I've been reading Profiles in D.7 are moving in the direction of "Profiles as Nodes". Now I want to move to Drupal 6.x. And the profiles will be handled by Content Profile module. This is great because now it opens a whole world of possibilities that the nodes can have: Tagging, hierarchical taxonomy structures (Country > Region > Town), Location Module, GMap, CCK fields, Paneled profile pages (without the APK), easy Views integration etc etc etc.
BUT....
The question is... How can I automatically move all the data entered by 500+ people using profile module into things like Taxonomy Vocabularies? So for instance to move "Interests" data from profiles into a free-tagging Taxonomy vocabulary, and to move Countries, and Towns into another hierarchical taxonomy vocabulary (I'm okey with sorting the hierarchies manually). Is there a module that could help me migrate the data from profile fields into taxonomy fields like this?
(I'm not a coder. I don't know MySQL queries. I am a very basic Drupal user who knows how to use modules and a bit of theme customizations) Please help, because I'm sure there are many people out there that would love to see an easy solution for moving data from one field into another.
