The -dev release is stable, always has been. I was waiting for some user feedback before turning it into an official release ...

With the last commit 22 weeks ago and the dev version date of "2009-Jul-01" I thought this module was abandoned. I would recommend making it an official release, for various reasons:
a) to show that YOU believe it to be stable
b) to reassure people like ME that it is stable
c) to indicate that there have been no bugs worth mentioning found for many months

It's been running fine for months now at http://driverpacks.net. It's definitely stable :)

EDIT: see the "Welcome from …" message on the right-hand side — that's powered by this module :) ;)

IMO, a 1.0 release is definitely a good idea. You can still do minor bugfixes in 1.x releases :) If an issue like #501172: Don't populate the database from hook_install() is the only thing to complain about, you're good to go :)
