Hello all. I'm in the market for a laptop. All the reviews I find related to best laptops for web development are old so I thought I would ask what laptops people are using and see if I could find a best option. I would like to stay under a $1000 definitely and closer to $750 if possible. I'll need to do some graphics work on it (Photoshop), but not much. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I would like to think that you should get a pretty good deal for your buck, in rand (ZAR) thats about $1000= R7000, do the math the higher the specs, for the same amount the better off you are, I reckon atleast, most of these devices have the same processor, hdd, ram maybe, so hell, same device different name
Not happy with my Dell XPS 13
I would not buy a Dell that is for sure. I bought a high end Dell XPS 13:

It is really fancy (and more expensive) but it has never worked correctly. Every time I call in with an issue they want me to do a complete reinstall which would take like 2 days of my time.
The machine has never worked correctly. It has power management problems, locks up after sleep, has problems switching to an external monitor, takes forever to boot up, and runs really hot. And the McAfee virus protection works awful, its scanner brings my machine to a halt.
Whatever you buy, don't spend hours right away installing all your stuff. Instead get one with at least a 10 day return policy and just try it out at first with a few things. Make sure it doesn't run too hot and everything works. That way you can take it back if you have a lemon like me.
Again, I would never buy a Dell - and stick with the more basic model (usually about 5lbs. with 14" screen). Maybe an HP or Toshiba.
Good luck,
