How do I index and search within files like Word, text, and PDF ??

There is a SWISH-E module, but it requires the source installation and compilation of the swish-e indexer which requires manual access to the terminal and is too manually low-level.

Does anyone have an out-of-the-box module that allows you to index and search the "files" directory ?? The module must support plain text files, PDF and Word documents. I think this is a useful and much needed module. Thanks.

Search attachments has now been replaced by the Search Files module
