I am disappointed to see that massmailer doesn't make use hardly any of phplist's great features. One in particular is user-attributes, and subscribe pages.
Because of that, I've decided not to use the massmailer module. I've had to integrate phplist with a manual html/pop-up method.
It would be great to see massmailer making use of phplist -- otherwise it may as well use any old crappy mailing system.

jurriaanroelofs commentedI agree, I just waster like 6 hours trying to properly set up massmailer and I found out anonymous users can't even subscribe. Or is there yet a subscribe page somewhere that I haven't found?
If there isn't, this whole module wouldnt make any sense

dalincalmer: For all users (anon or logged in) simply set up a new profile in CiviCRM of the type "User Registration", "View/Edit User", and "Account Profile". Under "Add Contacts to Group" choose your newsletter group. Then add a few basic fields to the profile. That's it.

gogowitsch commentedTo subscribe anonymous users, you can install the Webform phpList module. It supports phpList’s user attributes. The module needs Drupal 8 or newer, though.
In the simplest case, the webform has just one element: the email address.
