Regardless of settings configured for a product class, the Shipping Settings fieldset is not hidden. This is where the default shipping type is selected, default pickup address is configured, shipping fulfillment modules place settings here as well (USPS, etc).

This issue was fixed by increasing the module's weight in the system table of the database.

The install file has been updated to set the weight to a heavier setting upon install, release 1.9 includes this fix.
