Would it be possible to add Git as a version control option? Especially nice would be a sync option on update code. I'm just starting to mess with Git so not sure if the work done with SVN could be adapted.

Yes - it should (at least in theory) be possible to write a git version_control plugin - it's only a few lines of code. Patches welcome :)
