Hello! I am interested in removing the script that checks that the person in the "Authored by" field of the submit story page is a registered user. I would like to be able to publish some stories on my site that are by authors that are not registered on my site. Thanks for the assistance.

In administer > access control: enable the anonymous user role to create stories. (You can also allow an anonymous user to edit their own stories if you want, but I think that would probably allow any anonymous user to edit any Story submitted by any other anonymous user.)

In administer > settings > content types: configure Story so that it works they way you desire. I would assume that you would want anonymous user content going to the moderation queue. You can provide submission guidelines as well on the configuration page.

PS: If you don't get a reply to your post, don't submit a new post asking the same question. Just comment on your own post that's gone unanswered. A simple comment like "up" will move the post back to the top of the tracker list ;)

Thanks for the response. However, I would like to be able to actually enter a name into the "Authored by" field, rather than replace it with the anonymous user case.
