Organic group mandatory group: a group for new users

The OG mandatory group module requires the Organic Groups module and adds on additional features. This module makes one group mandatory for all new users. This is useful if you want all users to feel like they are part of a community and should have a group to start with. This is also useful if you are using the access control features of the Organic Groups module and you wish to restrict the content associated with the mandatory group to only registered site members.

Choose one group that all new users will be put into. You can choose either an open group where users can unsubscribe or a closed group that users cannot leave. The user will be auto-approved as member of the group.

As a separate feature (as of October 7, 2006), this module will allow you to require new users to select at least one of the organic groups listed in the registration form. This feature is independent of, and in addition too, any mandatory group.

To use this module you should first have the Organic Groups module installed and be familiar with its use and features. Read the organic group module handbook page.

After installing and activating this module, select an open group or select a closed group at administer >> settings >> og_mandatory_group as your mandatory group.
