i have installed Tiny Mce module , but i cannot see it when creating Post .. Is there a problem with the theme ? or do i have to do anything else besides uploading it in modules directory ?

I have already enabled it , but cant see the Tiny Mce !

I have read it many times but still i cannot see the tiny mce when posting

In my settings/tinymce , i can see
Could not find the TinyMCE engine installed at modules/tinymce/tinymce/. Please download TinyMCE, uncompress it and copy the folder into modules/tinymce.

So is there something missing? because tiny mce is in modules folder , it is in modules/tinymce and not in modules/tinymce/tinymce/

If you really can't be more helpful than say read the install.txt then don't help...its like telling a drowning man to learn to swim. For gods sake is it really that difficult to be a bit more obliging!?

Anyway, manishz. have you created the profiles in settings->tinymce? You need to enable the user groups which should have Tinymce access

I realize this is a sensitive subject; let me state that it is not my intent to insult or admonish the original poster (or anyone else for that matter).

When I see no indication that OP has read the file install.txt (or readme.txt), I will direct him/her to it. These files are not for decoration, but contain important installation instructions; in this case all the information was there.

Now if OP tells me that he/she has read the file (as Manishz did in a follow-up), but didn't understand it or still had errors, then we continue the process (of course!).

There's a 'bug' in INSTALL.txt that's not relevant for your current situation, but may be critical after you installed the TinyMCE engine and enabled profiles.

Do not follow this part:

CAVEATS
********************************************************************
By default, Drupal uses the 'Filtered HTML' input format for adding
content to the site and this can create conflicts with TinyMCE. It's
best when using this editor to use an input format that has all
filters disabled. What I usually do is create an input format called
'Rich-text editing' and set that as the default format for roles which
use TinyMCE exclusively. To modify your input formats go to:

Administer > input formats > configure > configure filters

I'll write something else later today and file issues against 4.6 & cvs

I'm also having some trouble installing tinymce and wondering if anyone can provide further help. I read the install.txt, and I loaded the tinymce.mysql file with myphpadmin, but I'm confused as to what should actually be uploaded tothe /modules folder. I downloaded two .zip files -- 4.6.0.tar and tinymce_1_44. Which is supposed to be uploaded to the /modules folder? Sorry if I'm missing something basic. Pretty new to Drupal. Thanks in advance.

According to tinymce install.txt the drupal tinymce module (--4.6.0.tar) goes in the modules folder, meaning /modules/tinymce. The tinymce 1.44 (or whatever version you're using) files go in a subfolder named tinymce, meaning /modules/tinymce/tinymce.

Tinymce is somewhat tricky to configure, but try to follow the info in the install.txt. Don't forget to create a Profile in order to configure it for use. Hope this helps.

I have some what of a similar issue also, however I can see enable or disable the rich test editor button, when I click it, my browser responds with error on page, Yes I have tried this with other browsers, yes I have java enabled, yes I have created the proper profiles and given permissions to those user's and have tried so many different variable's over the past 3 days I'm ready to commit harry carry.

I would be even willing to give someone admin rights to the site I'm working on and pay them for there time if they can get this working.

I'm having the same issues..

i've created a profile (its all ticked)but I cant see nuffin..

i got over the weird install thing where I installed it to modules and got an error saying it was not there and once again inside the top tinymce directory also. SO yes its installed 2 times

mods/(there is a directory called tinymce) and
mods/tinymce/ (when it said its not there and needs to be there)

AND still no joy.

Probably you have done this but just to be sure:
inside /module you put the decompresed module (folder tinymce) you have downloaded from Drupal,
inside created /module/tinymce/ you put the decompresed engine (again folder tinymce) you have downloaded from http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/ (where you download a current stable version of the Tinymce engine 2.1.1.1)

explained to me by "whayes" is firstly you install the mod THEN you install the editor. find post here http://drupal.org/node/161064

in short :this is the editors addy in ZIP http://downloads.sourceforge.net/tinymce/tinymce_2_1_1_1.zip?modtime=117...

install the mods inside ../mods
and install the editor inside ..mods/tinymce/tinymce

phew.. how many folk have you saved from my falling monitr it will never be know... But thanks.

Well sir, I am glad your happy unfortunately, I still want to commit hari kari LOL, here is what I did, I deleted tinymce profile, deactivated it it module's FTPed in deleted the install folder and started new.
Uploaded mod, and activated mod, unzipped engine uploaded engine to Module>Tinymce>Tinymce.
Set permission to admin to administer TinyMce and use it, went to tiny mce profile created profile called editors checked to the proper buttons and wholla I can see the enable rich text editor however I have an error in the browser page, I sceenshoted the error and hopefully get some answers from the community as I am F@@@@@N Baffled

Have you uploaded you image mod thing... (please excuse my laymans dribble as im only 3 drupal days old)

As my image handeler or mod thing i use IMCE as it auto configs to tinyMCE by default but you still nee to chek the profile for it.

I can only see the enable rich text button not the editor itself at all, I used Drupal in previous versions and have had no problems installing this module, this newest version just can't seem to get it to work period, BTW I'm using 5.1 if anyone care's, personally I could code out the whole page in HTML but other people who will be contributing to this site may not find that deseriable.

have you tried using an older version? Also, do you get the exact same message in both IE and firefox? Ive just recently used that version of tiny with 5.1 in a couple of sites and had no problems. Its probably just something simple. Also, FCKeditor is an option to consider. I recently surveyed some of my users and given both options, they preferred fck. if you still need someone too look, id be more than happy to try for nothing.

WorldFallz I thank you sir, I have found the new editor for that site and many other's, if you ever find your self wondering around the Wisconsin Dells Area send me a note and drinks are on me !!
I can now live in peace knowing I will not have to commit hari kari and will enjoy a much relaxed night of HBO and Entourage instead of reading so much documentation my head wanted to explode.

On a side note I also play a lil online game called cybernation's if you ever decide to play look up my character and nation and I'll shot you 3 million in aid for this one

Glad it solved your problem.

For a long time i used tinymce for many things. It was always a little twitchy for me. Then just for a change, I tried FCK for a dev site and I liked it so much (especially the built in file/image upload/browse and style/font previews) that I invited users on my site to check it out and they liked it better too.

oh and thanks for the invite to cybernations, but everquest keeps me busy in what little free time i have. but good luck to you....

ohh Everquest.. I played on the Brell Sir Ellis server for 4 years...from original Verant Blue Box. A erudite wizard I was. then on EQ 2 i was ... well i dont remmeber, but I was a troll Guardian... I got so shitty at the game constantly trying to compete with the then new and fledgling WOW... i was soo miffed at the fact that no longer did fire spells work better on ice type mobs... they flattened all the classes and then nurfed the spells .. it was so any char chould do any quest... What really killed my enthusiasam.. was a remane of a chars NAME . They said it was to Real Life... then for xmass suddenly cotton candy and presents appeared... THIS was the ultimate hypocracy...It really spoilt the game for me.. I went to WOW for exactly 3 weeks b4 i got stoopidy bored.

Now I have been playing EVE for a few years ... its a tad big...
I kind of wish i was still playing EQ but sony was only interested in my account... not my player satisfaction.

Second life well thats just a joke... how could something so errr basic and ugly be such a money making tool... err 1.6 mill per hour it makes... like HELLO>?<

I SO understand what you are saying. My main is 70 druid elf on Fennin Ro. I tried different alts, even leveled a dark elf shadowknight into the 30s-- for my evil side, LOL. But always ended up back on the main. I just so loved being a druid.. i could heal when needed... play offense when needed... solo when I couldn't find anyone to group with... but my most favorite configuration was a charm kiting duo with an enchanter.

As i wrote above, when i do play i play that game. But truth is, I haven't been playing so much as occasionally socializing there. It is most definitely a skill, and I've lost my touch. I used to be like lightning with my spells and spell book pages. I could instantly switch from healer to backup healer to offensive and no one ever died in a group on my watch. Even during huge planes raids. I knew exactly what spells worked best on what mobs. Now I can't even remember what spell does what.

And you are so right about SONY. They SO diluted the game as to make it unplayable. Not just the magic, but the world. They didn't give one thought about what was best for the game or the gamers... once they learned they could make tons of "found" money on expan$ion$ they spent every waking minute thinking up new and useless expansions to sell people. It totally ruined the game. There's way too many places to go and no way for people to hook up anymore. I started playing in 2000 when it was just the original world... i was great... i played non stop on the weekends... i knew people... i knew the world... where to go... so much fun. I miss it terribly sometimes.

I never bothered with EQ2 or WoW. Second life, while technically cool, is nothing more than a first attempt at a holodeck. And quite boring after about 20 minutes. Now, I mostly work on my web development and play some FPS--- fear... halflife... quake... stuff I don't have to invest huge amounts of time in to maintain skills and plat. But I still miss it....

Oh well, what this has to do with drupal I have no clue, LOL. But thanks for the trip down memory lane. Hmmm.. maybe its time to login to EQ and see if anyones around....
