I have setup my taxonomy terms (via pathauto) to link to '/category/[vocab_name]/[term_name]'. It would therefore make sense to have the vocabulary item link to '/category/[vocab_name]' (instead of '/taxonomy/terms/[term_ids]').

How do I do this? Is the Taxonomy Menu Custom Path module what I need? If so, how do I use it if I've already setup all my taxonomy menus? (everything says to setup views, etc. before enabling menus...)

Anyone able to advise with this? I'm hesitant to just test it as everything I've read says the view needs to be setup before the taxonomy menu is enabled... Will disabling the menu, setting up the view, then re-enabling the menu work?

For other people with this problem.

Disabling the menu, setting up the view, and re-enabling the menu worked for me.
