BetaTheta commentedupdate: on further inspection, it seems to be an issue with the user picture. I noticed that the users who didn't have a bloated meta div had no user picture. When I deleted my user picture, my meta divs also become normal again.
However, I would like to keep using user pictures. I have imagecache enabled, might that be causing an issue?
