Right now the country code must be entered as a two digit term which does not allow for regional subdivisions, which in some cases happen to have a different language than the country's.
Although it is not my case, one major example comes to mind: how would you deal with Quebec using the two digit code?

Thanks for such a needed module, this should be part of core (or at least i18n).

This restriction was removed some time ago. You can now enter more than 2 characters for your country codes
