No e-mails showing

After some fiddling with this module, I believe I have it installed correctly. The error log shows a successful connection to the mail store folder, and the webmail_plus page shows the expected folders in the block. However, I have no messages to view. I know this is not correct since my POP client says there ARE messages.
Since no errors are reported, I'm at a loss for what to try next. Any suggestions?
BTW, I'm on a shared account with MidPhase.

Mail API works with IMAP mail servers, it hasn't been tested with POP3.

I'm aware of that. There is also an IMAP server running, which I presume is accessing the same messages as the POP3 server. MidPhase has both POP3 and IMAP access to its mail set up by default.
As I said, MAIL API seems to be connecting to the IMAP mail store correctly, since the log shows a proper connection without any errors.
Why can't I see any messages?

I tested my IMAP account using POPTray as an IMAP client. It found 66 messages waiting, but Webmail Plus still shows nothing, even though the event log reports a proper connection to the IMAP mail store folder.
I also checked the account with Thunderbird as an IMAP client. Same result. 66 messages which I can view. Still nothing in Webmail Plus.
