That seems like that'd be good for images, I might try that out in the future, altho I don't understand why it can't be used for any files. What I like ab the CCK idea is that it gives you control over what files you want locally and what files you want remote. So you might want all user content type files to use s3, that kind of module would do that.

Ya I don't want to move stuff around, I want a CCK field that connects direct to s3. There is the cloudfront module:
