We are proud to announce to opening of http://www.ActiveFarming.com in Drupal 4.7!

Mission: Farmers helping farmers farm better through collaborative efforts.

Active Farming is feature rich, dynamic, revenue sharing, and community driven farming resource website. With Drupal 4.7 we are able to produce an excellent website platform with abilities unknown to the farming community until now.

Some of the Drupal 4.7 modules that Active Farming uses are:

  • Views
  • Acidfree
  • Aggregator2
  • Simplenews
  • Adsense
  • Event
  • Flatforum
  • Flexinode
  • Logintoboggan
  • privatemsg
  • subscriptions

Take a look at www.ActiveFarming.com and let us know what you think. Any suggestions and feedback on the site would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has any questions on how we did any certain feature of the website, let me know and I will do my best to explain.

What are you doing there. Is that a modified forum?

Another question. Is this an existing community migrating to 4.7?

Hi Jodo,

The classifieds are a combination of flexinodes, views.module, and CSS. If there is interested I can make a recipe for it.

This is a new community. We've had the domain for about a year and half and until recently, it only had a few resource articles on it.

We just recently released the community functions and in our opinion, it is taking off well.

The hard part is letting farmers know about the resources and tools we are providing and then to instruct them how to do use them. Farmers are probably one of the least technological advanced groups. To answer these problems we are experimenting with advertising and we are considering installing a help module.

hadishon - For a new community I'm impressed with the number of for sale offers you have already aquired in the classifieds. And they are from a wide swath of the US. Looks like it is definitely taking off.
As you know better than me, farming is a data/info intensive endeavor. It is a great niche and you are certainly taking advantage of the fine tools of drupal.
How do you promote the site to gather users?

And please pass that recipe.

It would be great if you could give the recipe for the classified ads. This would be very helpful to me.

I made my first attempt for a Drupal Recipe!

You can view it here:

I'm sure I'll be getting more questions about instructions for this classified recipe. After I answer the questions, I'll make revisions to my main copy. Once I get a final copy, I'll submit it to the Drupal Handbook.

Please leave questions/comments about the classified recipe on the recipe page:

Do we need to log in to the site to see http://www.activefarming.com/classifieds-for-drupal now? Or has the page gone....

I actually unpublished it since I have it posted in the drupal handbook now. Too many of my regulars where stumbling across it on accident. You can find the handbook page here:
