kreynen commented@salvis I know you've been involved long enough to know that you shouldn't describe multiple issues in the same post.
Check availability actually changes the list of available items based on the dates and times you select, so that's "by design".
The bucket term will be replaced by inventory genres when the MERCI Inventory Submodule.

salvisI considered both items to be cosmetic issues of the form, that's why I put them into the same issue. But you are right, and it turns out that they're different... :-( I've moved the second item to #605854: Remove "bucket" from the drop-down list box when there are not bucket items.
Wow, I didn't expect that. In that case your UI is correct, but some explanation would help, maybe under the button: "This will reduce the list of available items to those that are free in your selected time slot."
Actually, after some thought, I'd prefer if it weren't that way, for my environment. I'd like to use MERCI to reserve rooms that are not interchangeable. You're strategy is based on the assumption that people have a fixed time and they'll take whatever is available. In my situation, people are more likely to ask when is that specific room available. It's ok if they have to give their desired date, but if the date is taken, they'll want to see the conflicting reservation(s) (to try to negotiate with whoever reserved that room) and/or look for alternative dates/times when their requested room(s) would be available.
Given that rooms may need some cleaning up and setting up between events, it would even be desirable to see reservations that are close to mine (say with less than one or two hours between them and mine), so that I could take that into account.
