User Cannot Change User 1 Content... Even With Permissions

Hi folks, I am having a real pain of a time trying to figure out this one. I am not sure if it is a module I have recently upgraded or installed causing this issue so I will explain what has happened and what I have tried.

I have set User 1 to the name of "system". I then need to pass on content creating permissions to a user I have called "admin" and I have given them a role called "admin".

Admin has all node module permissions including administer nodes. Previously everything was working great, Admin could create and edit content and everything was well. However, I then updated to Drupal 6.14, updated to Nodewords to version 6.12, added FlashVideo, Simplenews, Services, AMFPHP, Dash Player, Emfield, Voting API, Image and Contemplate.

After adding these upgrades and new modules, somewhere along the lines, the Admin can no longer edit pages created by the "system" user. I have been trying all sorts of different combination's to see what might solve the problem. I have given "admin" every content editing permission, trying changing the author of pages to admin, ensured Access Control settings gave "admin" the appropriate permissions. Nothing seems to be working.

Some pages I create as "system" user can be edited by the "admin" yet others cannot. Some pages that were created as the "admin" can be edited by the "admin" yet others cannot. I am having trouble finding the pattern that tells me where the issue lies.

Is this normal? Content created by User 1 cannot by altered by any user, even if they have all node editing permissions? Is this a new security update for the latest version of Drupal or some other module?

There's an excellent post by

There's an excellent post by Julia KM on a checklist to debugging permission problems. Usually the permissions table has been corrupted by an improperly installed module and needs to be rebuilt (visit admin/content/node-settings/rebuild).

Check out the post here http://www.juliakm.com/drupal-permissions-issues-debugging-checklist.

Mokargas you are an absolute legend! Thankyou for passing on that great debugging checklist (right-click save to bookmarks). Somewhere along the way my input formats were reset so I didn't have full html assigned to the Admin. I wonder if this happened during the upgrade to Drupal 6.14. Either way this was the cure to a major headache. Thanks again.
