So on one of my sites when I change the Title of a post the URL doesnt change which is good cause the backlinks dont need to be updated!
but on my new blog, every time a user changes the title, the URL changes as well which causes problems because the URL of that specific page changes meaning all backlinks which link to OLD url are now Pages Not Found!
how do I fix that?
thanks

I think I solved the problem:
http://www.example.com/admin/build/workflow
Under Operations under the Approved row I clicked on Edit. And there I set the permission to change Title only for Admin and Editor roles! So now Author (person who created the post or blog) can Edit their post, everything BUT the title!
It wasnt the ideal way but I think it fixed my problem for now!
p.s.> Remember in setting permissions and making changes CLEAR CACHE through Performance under Admin control! I wasted enough time to figure that out!
Good luck!

Yes, I am. But which setting do I change?
I have done PathAuto but when I change the title of a node the Path changes too after I have created the node already.
For example i created:
example.com/blog/Title1
then a day later when I change Title1 to Title2 the URL changes to example.com/blog/Title2
Not Good! I would prefer at that point the Title change to Title2 but the URL still be Title1.
my older website does that correctly but my new site doesnt! And I cant tell what I am doing different on the settings!
Under General Settings >>
On this page: admin/build/path/pathauto
Under General Settings >> Update action
Check the option for:
Do nothing. Leave the old alias intact.
You could also use:
Create a new alias. Leave the existing alias functioning. That would update the URL, but leave the old one still working.
