Roles, Points - separate badges wanted

Project:User Badges
Version:6.x-1.5
Component:Code
Category:feature request
Priority:normal
Assigned:Unassigned
Status:closed (fixed)

Issue Summary

I like assigning badges by points. As a user gains points the badges change. I like to show only the highest level badge a user has earned so there is a limit of only 21 possible badges because weights only go from -10 to +10.

I would like to have a 2'nd badge if the user is in a different role, like moderator or subscriber.

It would also be nice to have a 3'rd badge if the user wins a contest or gets voted most helpful or some other special award.

If a way to accomplish this already exists please forgive my post, I don't see how to configure it.

The badges for points thing is not part of this module. I'm not sure which module is giving that functionality. If you can identify it for me, I may be able to help.

A wider range of weights than +/-10 is coming in the next version.

To assign badges according to roles, use the "Roles" tab in the badges part of the admin section.

For the contest or award, you may have to manually assign the badge. Or you could, if you like, try using the Rules module. But I think that may be a bit advanced for your needs.

Thanks for the reply!

It is good to hear a wider range of point is coming in the next version.

As a user gains points he gets new badges. I check "Only show the most highest-level badge" so only one points related badge is shown. If I don't check that users quickly get lots of points related badges. When I assign a badge by role the user gets that badge instead. In this case I would like to see two badges, one points related and one role related.

If I manually assign a badge I'd like to see a third badge.

Perhaps this is an issue for the userpoints_contrib module?

I see what you mean, but I don't have any plans to add a "top X badges per badge type" option, sorry. However, the new version will have top X badges instead of top 1 badge, so you could select to have the top 3 badges showing, and then give the users the ability to rearrange their own badges (also coming in the next version).

Thank you for your reply! I really appreciate that I am able to express my desire and you heard and understand me.

It sounds like I can get close to my vision with your next version. And I don't even have to write any code. :)

Thank you for your efforts. I am able to use the current download and will improve my site by incorporating your next version. Keep up the good work!
