Issue Summary
Thought it would be useful to at least have a placeholder ticket to centralize questions about the Drupal 7 port of Panels 3. Given this wasn't labelled as being included in D7CX might we believe that help (or someone to take on the task and/or a sponsor) might be appreciated?

FYI because of the dependency, there's also a task for CTools: #589636: Port to Drupal 7
#2
Yes, +1 for one of the best modules out there.
It this on on the menu in the coming months? Or is help/sponsoring urgently needed?

I'll be doing the same for Panels as I'm doing for ctools (#589636-39: Port to Drupal 7), presently.

Perhaps we can start a chip in (chipin.com) for the contributors?

Can the tag on this be updated to "7.x-3.x-dev" now that it's in CVS?

I think the biggest roadblock is going to be in CTools; specifically, wizard.inc -- making sure that works and is robust is going to be the hardest piece.
Also, to do it right, we're going to need tests. THis is where we're going to need some volunteers.
#16
I would be happy to contribute testing and documentation. Panels is an awesome module :)

Also willing to test!

@merlinofchaos Are you talking about simpletests? I'd be more than willing to contribute some tests, it'd be a great way to know more about the panels/ctool engine.
#20
Yes indeed, we'll need simpletests.

Im just a lowly theme designer with little php knowledge. Panels is a must have module. So I'm happy to help with testing or gui input. Or whatever else I can do to further the project along.

Just for info, people subscribed here might like to know of this tweet from Earl yesterday:
# I just got Panels IPE working in Drupal 7, which is the last piece of the Panels side. Panels and CTools d7 alpha this weekend I hope! 9:14 PM Oct 7th
Which is quite impressive really... good luck and thanks!

Since there's an alpha out, we don't really need this issue to be active anymore.
